Deep rather than wide
Newcastle is built the other way round to most of the range — 23 centimetres across and 26 deep. It is a barrel rather than a slab, which suits bulky, soft loads: a rolled jacket, boots, a camera with the lens on. Twenty-six litres, opened by a single zip.

Wax-treated cotton canvas with a dark leather-look trim. Everything opens on a zip, which is the fastest way in and the reason this one gets picked for airports. The wax finish handles light rain and dust.
